Abilene High Lift Aerial Company of
Abilene, Texas has purchased a Steiger TTS 1000 aerial work platform
with a working height of 328 ft. When delivered, it will be the highest
reaching aerial in North America. The machine will be powered by a Mack
Granite Series truck purchased from TransEdge Truck Centers and
manufactured by Mack Trucks of Allentown, PA. The aerial work platform
was manufactured by Ruthmann Gmbh & Co. KG Company in Germany. Delivery
of the new unit is expected early this summer. The founders of Abilene High Lift Aerial are Steve Roth, president and Darrell Shortes, vice president. Both are industry veterans with over 50 years of combined experience. Roth has participated in both corporate and public construction administration; Shortes is president of Raydon Construction, a multi-faceted construction company that he founded. Raydon will be providing operators that are both factory and IPAF trained on the Steiger TTS 1000 for companies wanting them. Company Goals: Our goal is to introduce to the North American industry a safer means of accessing high reach locations. We believe safer and faster methods will ultimately lower cost to the end customer on a regular basis. Abilene High Lift Aerial will provide lifting services to existing wind energy service companies as well as other industries with high access lifting requirements. With the development of the large amount of wind farms in the immediate area, the wind service industry is the primary market. We also hope to rapidly develop alternative uses to many other segments of industry. Abilene High Lift Aerial will provide the Steiger TTS 1000 to the customer with an operator possessing a Powered Access License issued by International Powered Access Foundation (IPAF). Ruthmann, an IPAF Training Center, will conduct factory training and IPAF training. |

| Company Development: The development of the company has been collaboration between Abilene High Lift Aerial, Ruthmann Gmbh & Co. KG Company, TransEdge Truck Centers and Mack Trucks, Inc. of Allentown, PA. Constructed as a semi-trailer, the TTS 1000 design proved preferable to both Roth and Shortes after traveling to Europe and previewing other chasses mounted machines. The conventional method of tractor and trailer was an easy decision after seeing first-hand the maneuverability and swift road transport of the TTS 1000. Those features coupled with the unmatched stability that the machine offers, proved superior to any other machine that was viewed or specifications that were published. While interviewing service company technicians performing blade repairs on a Vestas Wind Farm near Magdeburg Germany, it was clear that the TTS 1000 provided a platform stability that was highly sought along with occupant comfort and security. |

Steiger TTS 1000 Facts |
How does the
Steiger TTS 1000 compare: When introduced in 2002, the TTS 1000 was the highest working platform in the world at 100 meters (328’), and when it arrives, it will be the highest machine in North America. Since its introduction, its height has been exceeded, but not it’s unmatched specifications. Bronto, a Finnish company, manufactured (shortly after the Steiger TTS 1000) a 101 meter (331’) machine and then again in 2009 a 104 meter (341’) machine. The Steiger, however, remains unmatched with its 40 meter (131’) lateral reach and its significant capability to operate in any position withstanding winds up to 16 meters per second (35.8 mph). Other machines from 90 meters and up are limited to 12 meters per second (26.8 mph) winds. This capability gives the Steiger TTS 1000 an unmatched stability and great height. |
